ABOUT THE POSITION:

  1. You will focus on research on enzyme-catalysed amide bond synthesis, specifically research into novel classes of amide bond forming enzymes for the synthesis of pharmaceutical amides.
  2. You will employ synthetic organic chemistry, gene cloning, expression, mutation and analytical techniques to characterise novel enzyme activity and look to develop scaleable processes for enzyme-catalysed amide bond formation.

ELEGIBILITY CRITRIA:

  • A first degree in Biochemistry, Chemistry or a related discipline and a PhD with experience in synthetic organic chemistry and molecular biology (or have submitted a PhD thesis prior to taking up appointment)
  • A proven research track-record and knowledge of both synthetic and analytical organic chemistry relevant to catalysis and biocatalysis and knowledge of a range of research techniques and methodologies in molecular biology and Enzymology
  • A good knowledge of and enthusiasm for contemporary research in applied biocatalysts Skills in synthetic organic chemistry, gene cloning and protein production and analytical techniques associated with organic chemistry.
