The School of Engineering Sciences at KTH Royal Institute of Technology is inviting applications for a PhD student for an interdisciplinary project to develop new diagnostics and vaccines against bacterial infections.

About the project:
  • In this project, different methods will be used to characterize bacterial surface proteins, how they interact with host cells, for the development of new vaccines and antibiotics.
  • The project is highly interdisciplinary and performed in close collaboration with biomedical researchers at Karolinska Institutet.
  • The PhD studies will include build-up of instruments, experiments, modelling and calculations
  • The Supervision will be under Professor Jerker Widengren.


  • Applicant must have passed a degree at advanced level, completed course requirements of at least 240 higher education credits, of which at least 60 higher education credits at advanced level, or in any other way acquired within or outside the country acquired essentially equivalent knowledge.
  • Applicant must hold Master’s degree in Eng. Physics, Biophysics, Biophotonics, or Optic
